wein.plus presents Golden Grape Awards at EUROVINO 2026

At the EUROVINO – trade fair for wine in Karlsruhe, wein.plus will present the ‘Golden Grape Awards’ on 1 March 2026. This will draw special attention to the media and service company's competition concept.

The award ceremony is part of the EUROVINO networking evening, which brings together exhibitors and visitors to the trade fair for food and drinks, conversation and music at the end of the first day of the fair. The networking evening begins at 6 p.m., with the presentation of the Golden Grape Awards scheduled for 7.15 p.m. wein.plus tasting manager Marcus Hofschuster and his colleague Kim Schreiber will then present the winners with their trophies on stage in front of the assembled trade fair audience. The managing director of Messe Karlsruhe, Britta Wirtz, and the mayor of the city of Karlsruhe, Gabriele Luczak-Schwarz, will also congratulate the winners.

The Golden Grape Awards consist of five grape variety-based wine competitions for German-speaking countries. The themes for the 2025/26 season were Silvaner, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Burgundy varieties and Blaufränkisch/Lemberger. For the five competitions, the full-time tasting team at wein.plus blind tasted and professionally evaluated a total of over 4,440 wines over several months. The tastings took place exclusively in the neutral tasting room of wein.plus in Erlangen. Based on the points awarded, the wines received medals in various categories, ranging from bronze to silver and gold to grand gold. For each competition, the three wineries that have won the most grand gold medals are honoured in Karlsruhe.

The presentation of the ‘Golden Grape Awards’ at EUROVINO is also an expression of the even more intensive cooperation between wein.plus and Messe Karlsruhe, which both companies entered into last year. Since then, EUROVINO has been one of seven premium partners of wein.plus and the only trade fair with this status. In addition, wein.plus is a premium partner of EUROVINO.

More about the award ceremonies at EUROVINO

In addition to the Golden Grape Awards, the winners of the Fair Wine Awards will also be announced during the networking evening on the Sunday of the trade fair. This focuses on sustainable and environmentally friendly wines made from resistant and historic grape varieties. On the Monday of the fair, part two of the Fair Wine Awards will follow at 1.30 p.m. on the stage in the entrance hall – here the focus will be on the award-winning companies from the retail and catering sectors.

Before the Fair Wine Awards ceremony, the winners of the EUROVINO Innovation & Marketing Award ‘New & different’ will be announced on stage in the event hall at 1 p.m. on the Monday of the fair. This award focuses on five categories, not on the wine itself, but on marketing ‘outside and around the bottle’. More information here: eurovino.info/award
